Billie and her team arrive to work on our garden
This week a group of Tesco store managers, community champions and maintenance staff came together as part of the Burnley Extra stores community project. Colleagues from Burnley, Blackburn, Great Harwood, Haslingden, Clitheroe and Rawtenstall supported Christ the King RC Primary school to improve an area of their school from a blank canvas into a bright, vibrant garden along with the workforce Tesco supplied all materials and a maintenance team to support the project. The project began on Tuesday 14th June the weather wasn't great but that didn't stop the teams efforts, led by the Burnley Extra store manager Tom Mollekin. Tesco undergo community projects on a regular basis and results for their support in the community is widespread. The school now has an area of raised beds and planters with lots of fruit and vegetables on site for the children to maintain and watch the fruits of their labour grow. They have a seating area, compost bins bright coloured planters and potting table that is bright, functional and inviting. Tesco in partnership with the Eat Happy Project thrive to give children through their Farm to Fork Trails a better understanding and relationship with their food. What better way to do this than to plant seeds watch them grow then sit back and enjoy. Tesco proudly supporting their local community.
