Year 1 you have knocked my socks off with all the work that you have been carrying out at home. You are fabulous and your parents must be proud of you all. Thank you for sending me photos of what you have been doing, I really do enjoy seeing them.
Over the next few weeks, your home learning will be posted weekly on this page. If you would like paper copies of the resources, any extra paper or pencils please collect them from the school office.

Handwriting
This week we are working on the capital letters P, Q, R, S, T. We practise forming 1 letter a day.
Phonics
The sounds that we are covering this week are u-e and revising splits diagraphs a-e, e-e, i-e & o-e. Use the ideas from each lesson plan as a basis for two days of phonics on that sound. You do not need to cover all the activities and please feel free to adapt them to your needs. Lesson 4 (Thursday) is the weekly spelling test.

This week your lessons will involve subtraction.
Also remember to practise counting forwards and backwards to 100, counting in 2s, counting in 5s and counting in 10s.

Religious Education (Monday and Tuesday afternoon)
For the next 4 weeks the children will explore the theme of 'Eurcharist'. The parish family gathers for the Eucharist (Mass), Jesus’ special meal. We find strength in gathering for the celebration of the Eucharist and of God’s love in our lives.
Scripture: 1 Cor. 11: 26 Whenever you eat this bread, and drink this cup you are proclaiming the Lord’s death until he comes.

Science: Our senses (Monday afternoon)
Monday's science is a lesson about the sense of taste. Taste some of the foods that you have at home and work out if they are salty, sweet, bitter or sour. Example foods are: salty - crisps, pretzels, salted nuts, sweet - sweets, cake, biscuits, bitter - coffee, olives, sour - pickles, lemon.

To link with your English work, the exciting art topic for the next few weeks is making a 3D robot model. This week choose a box that can be the head for your robot. The task now is to cover the box so that you can't see any writing or pictures.
History: Victorian Schools (Thursday afternoon)
This term in History we are looking at Victorian Schools and comparing them to schools today. This week use the powerpoint to look at all the aspects of life in a Victorian school &/or research Victorian schools online. Now carry out the comparing schools past and present sorting activity.
