World Book Day 2021

In 2021 World Book Day, just like everything else, will be different. We’ve adapted to make sure that World Book Day sends a powerful and positive message about books and reading, even in lockdown.

On Thursday children will be able to bring their favourite book or story to their scheduled class Zoom meeting where they can discuss and talk about why they love that particular one so much and why they would recommend others to read it

Children will also be able to dress up in fancy dress if they wish but please do not feel the need to go and buy any costumes or spend lots of time making anything - the aim of the zoom is for children to have the time to talk about their favourite book/story!

Children in school on Thursday can also bring their favourite book or story into school and can also dress up in fancy dress if they wish

You can also find lots of online events, resources and clips on the World Book Day website here:

To celebrate World Book Day, Burnley Youth Theatre are also Live-Streaming two FREE Zoom storytelling sessions with the aim of getting children far and wide together for a mass reading of two wonderful stories which explore children's mental health. Storytellers, Ollie and Taylor, will bring each story to life through a 20 minute interactive session. To get involved, book a free ticket through ticket source.
