Our Sacramental Programme takes place when children are in Year 3 and ensures that our baptised children can complete their journey to being full members of the Catholic Church. Children are provided with support to make the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. We hope that their involvement with the sacramental programme will help them feel welcomed into the wider Church family.
The process begins with a presentation at Church, where Father David will bless all of the children at the start of their journey. Children will then be prepared to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation, where they will confess their sins to God and be restored to the innocence of their Baptism. The final sacrament in this journey is to receive Jesus in their First Holy Communion (the Eucharist.)
Each part of the programme is important, as it forms a part of the child's experience of God which will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We hope this will be a very positive experience, and we trust that parents will support them on every step of the journey.
Due to COVID restrictions First Holy Communion for Year 4 children took place in January and February this year. This was such a memorable, special occasion for the children, families and parishioners at Christ the King.
