Year 5  AUTUMN 1 DOMESTIC CHURCH– FAMILY

In the first part of the Autumn Term, we explored our talents and skills. We learned that each person is unique, but is made in the image and likeness of God. We also learned that our uniqueness is central to our wellbeing.

In this topic, the learning outcomes were to know and understand:

•  Who I am and that I am unique and loved by God.

•  Ourselves as made in the image and likeness of God.

Year 5 Autumn 2: Domestic Church– Baptism/Confirmation - Belonging and Advent/Christmas - Loving

In the second part of the Autumn Term, we looked at the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Marriage. We learned that Christians are called to a commitment of holiness and service of others. Later in the term, we explored how to wait hopefully for the birth of Jesus, the promised one, and how this is preceded by the season of Advent.

In this topic, the learning outcomes were to know and understand:

•   How to show care and commitment.

•   The call to life and love within the community; marriage.

•   How to wait hopefully

•   How advent is the Church’s season of waiting in joyful hope for the coming of Jesus, the promised One, at Christmas and at the end of time.
