Modern Foreign Languages
Statement of Intent MFL
At Christ the King, we believe that the learning of a language provides an invaluable cultural, educational and social experience for our pupils. Our aim is to stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity about different languages by introducing them to another language in Key stage 2 in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating. We believe that by learning another language, children develop a broader perspective on the world which encourages them to better understand their own culture and other cultures of the world. We will develop children’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and ultimately laying foundations for future language learning.
Year 5 - Autumn 1
During Autumn 1, children began by learning how to describe how they are feeling using simple phrases and then built on these to describe their feelings in more complex sentences. This also included talking about their feelings towards different school subjects. They then applied this learning and incorporated pronouns to describe someone else.
